Missions Committee
Missions This is a servant ministry- affirming Christ's admonition to his disciples to "Feed my sheep". To fulfill this Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19 20) it is the goal of the Missions Committee to encourage and facilitate participation in foreign missions by members of the congregation. Not everyone is called to personally go out and work in the mission field, but through increased awareness of missions on the part of our church family, we can encourage and support those in our community who are called through prayer and financial support.

Jesus told us to go into the world and tell the good news of His kingdom. There is ample opportunity to go out from St Luke's Church on short term Mission trips. We have developed a ministry in the El Paraiso District of Honduras to provide fresh drinking water to the people in the rural villages and towns. The Major health problem in this area is caused by the lack of safe drinking water. This ministry works with the medical and evangelism teams sponsored by the Episcopal Church. The Water Ministry includes volunteers to go and train the people on sanitation and protection of their water supplies. The volunteers include those able to construct simple, hand operated water well systems and evangelism members to help show the Hondurans how this is a demonstration of God's love for them.
We also have an ongoing ministry in cooperation with St. James Church in Del Rio to rebuild homes in the Barrio on the Texas side of the border. This is an opportunity for whole families to go and work for a long weekend. There are opportunities to go with Mission Russia Outreach to work in summer camps and orphanages in Russia in January or June/July each year. We also have an ongoing ministry with the churches in Monterey Mexico, assisting with vacation bible school, Sunday School , and bible study for both adults and children.
